Water Safety from the Experts

As the summer is now in full swing, it is a perfect time to remind yourselves about water safety. We have created a page (HERE) which links you to the experts. No matter whether you are in Barmouth for a day on the beach or an experienced water sports person, there is something for you.

Please remember that Barmouth does not have lifeguards and any water can be dangerous. Doing a little reading can save your life.

  • Spend 30 minutes and understand what to do in a rip tide.

  • Do not use inflatables in the sea.

  • If you are on any kind of water craft understand what buoyancy aid / life jacket you need.

  • If you are swimming, know about Cold Water Shock. Yes even in summer.

  • Know the tides and the weather forecast.

  • Be prepared. Have the right kit ........ consider food, water, caps and sun cream.

  • Always have a method to hand that enables you to call for help.

  • If you see anyone in trouble call 999 and ask for the Coast Guard.
